Exam 2018, Question 4

Hello,

Normally we say, that if a RV X is independent of another RV Y, then
p(X,Y) = P(X/Y) p(Y) = P(X) p(Y).

Why is it then not correct to "to say X | Z | Y ? Is it because if we know the outcome Y, then it changes Z a posteriori ie in the reversed sense?

Other question: How do I read this: X | Z | Y - Is the independence of X and Z conditioned on Y , or is it X|Y | Z| Y ?

Hi, note that topic "Graphical Models — Bayes Nets" was included in 2018 course, but is not included in this year's course, thus there should be no questions about bayes nets in the exam this year.
