I am trying to work out the expression for the derivatives \(\frac{\partial Ax}{\partial x}\) and \(\frac{\partial x^T A}{\partial x}\) (assuming the dimension of A allows such operation, they should be different). However, I always obtain the same result (\(A\)). I am unable to find how to compute these... I tried computing each entry \( (\cdot)_{i, j} \) in both cases, by considering scalar derivatives one by one, but I obtain A in both cases...
Issue when computing gradient
Good evening,
I am trying to work out the expression for the derivatives \(\frac{\partial Ax}{\partial x}\) and \(\frac{\partial x^T A}{\partial x}\) (assuming the dimension of A allows such operation, they should be different). However, I always obtain the same result (\(A\)). I am unable to find how to compute these... I tried computing each entry \( (\cdot)_{i, j} \) in both cases, by considering scalar derivatives one by one, but I obtain A in both cases...
