Doing Project 2 with a lab's support

I and my group want to make the project with a lab and we contacted someone in EPFL.
She wanted us to be more specific about what to do as a project since there are a lot of applications that can be made.
Could you be more specific about what we can make and we can't. Actually, she said that she can offer us data of fMRI scans.
But she wanted us to be sure about what we want to do. For example, would a classification problem based on fMRI scans be ok, for project 2?
Also how much time you expect us to invest so we can be more sure about how big we should go.
Thanks

Hi,

Yes, working on fMRI scans can be something you do for your second project. There are no restrictions on the concrete topic, you can do classification, image segmentation, whatever you agree with the lab. You have enough time to discuss the possibilities with them and choose the application that you find the most interesting. On the course webpage, you can also check the list of topics that were covered in the previous two years, that can also give you some ideas for your project.

About the workload, as a guidance you should remember that Project 2 is 30% of the grade. That means that for a 7 credits course you get around 2 credits for this project. So make sure that your project is complex enough to cover that (of course, this is not easy to estimate, but you can always consult us if you are not sure that what you are doing is enough).

Hope this helps!

Best,
Maja
