Hey,

I know it's basic stuff but could you please explain why you get the N/2 in front of the expression, I derive "the same" except for the 1/2 factor....

It’s because both sigma^2 and 2 * pi are inside square root which is equal to power 1/2 but the expressions inside parentheses are not.

Furthermore, the negative sign before log and expressions being in denominators cancel each other.
